Ruth Pauline Meyer died October 11, 2014. She was born in Denver, CO in 1922 to Theodore and Pauline Hoyer. The family moved to Winfield, KS and then to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, where Theodore Hoyer became a professor. Ruth graduated from Clayton High School, where she participated in sports and played the cello in the school orchestra. She was sister to nine siblings: Walter, Leonora, Dorothy, Louise (Binx), Robert (Bob), George, John, Richard (Dick) and Marie. She sang in the St. Louis A Capella Choir (subsequently named the Bach Society of St. Louis) under Dr. William Heyne, and continued singing in church choirs throughout her adult life. She married Air Force chaplain Daryl G. Meyer, and raised seven children with him: Judith, Cheryl, Kathy, Mark, Claire, David and Christine. The family lived in many locations, including Okinawa, Cape Canaveral (Florida) and Hawaii. Ruth was widowed in 1982 in California, and subsequently returned to St. Louis. She moved into the Laclede Groves senior community in 1999 and lived there until her death. In addition to her seven children, she is survived by sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on Forsyth and Big Bend on November 22 at 11:00 a.m.
