Robert John Auffenberg 93, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Monday, January 12, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Marquita Katherine Auffenberg; loving father of Robert J. (Lisa) Auffenberg Jr., M.D., Julia (Edward) Johnson, Marquita K. Auffenberg, Sally (Dan) Stephen, Nancy (Leonard) Rosenthal, Richard J. (Betsy) Auffenberg, Peter Conrad Auffenberg, Peggy (Tom) White and the late David Phelan Auffenberg; cherished grandfather of Whitney, Lesley and Jordan Savage, Annie Auffenberg; Keri Gowen, Travis Johnson, Paige McClelland, Brooke Phelps, Patrick Johnson and the late Marritje Johnson; Dan Jr., Drew, Austin and Jack Stephen; Kyle, Clay and Blake Rosenthal; Katie, Megan and Matt Auffenberg; Conrad and Curtis Auffenberg; Tommy, Maddison, Andrew, Ryan and Nicholas White; great grandfather of Brooklyn, Alli, Kennedy, Winston, Parker, Addie, Trip, Teddy and Bobby; dear brother of the late Jim, Harry and Shorty Auffenberg; dear uncle and friend to many. Mr. Auffenberg was a graduate of St. Louis University High School and St. Louis University. He attended Midshipman's school at Columbia University in New York City and served in World War II aboard the USS Clemson as a First Lieutenant. After the war he entered the family car business. He is the oldest of four brothers of the Auffenberg automotive family. He has been a member of Our Lady of the Pillar Parish for over 65 years where he attended daily Mass Services. He has been a resident of Naples, FL for over 25 years. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, January 17, at Our Lady of the Pillar, 401 S. Lindbergh. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Boys and Girls Town of Missouri (Great Circle) Attn.: Advancement Office 330 North Gore St. Louis, MO 63119 . The family will receive friends Friday, January 16 in the Great Hall of Ambruster Chapel, 6633 Clayton Rd. (Clayton) from 4 p.m. to 7 pm.
