Mary Anne (Deutsch) Lyons,
April 20, 1947 - October 7, 2015
Mary Anne is survived and deeply mourned by her sons Mark and Matthew Lyons, her brothers William and James Deutsch, sister-in-law Debbie Deutsch, aunt Joann Klevorn, niece Colleen Smithson (Walsh), nephews Eric, Michael and Gabe Deutsch, and her dear friend Judy Schoene.
Mary Anne was pre-deceased by her brother John Deutsch, sister Peggy Walsh, and parents William "Duke" and Margaret Deutsch.
Mary Anne, a brilliant and dedicated elementary educator, taught in the St. Charles Schools for 30 years before her official retirement in 2010. She continued as a reading interventionist and substitute teacher up until the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia four months ago. In 2000 Mary Anne was named Teacher of the Year for the St. Charles School District. Every graduation season brought a steady stream of letters from former students and parents sharing her pupils' subsequent accomplishments and gratitude for her guidance. She treasured all of you.
Services: In the Great Hall of Ambruster Chapel, 6633 Clayton Road (Clayton) on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mary Anne asked for donations to the Alliance for the Mentally Ill www.nami.org
