John F. Clifford of Creve Ceour, MO passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the age of 93. John was born in Nappanee, IN to Anor Calender and Vernon Rosenberger. John served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was stationed in India as a Draftsman for Generals. He was very proud to have made maps essential for military operations. Upon his return from service, John began a career in sales and eventually went to work for CITGO where he was salesperson of the year in 1971 and then became general manager at Tri County Oil, from where he retired. John enjoyed life fully with his beloved family.
John is survived by Phyllis, his love of 70 years. Their sentimental journey together began in South Bend, IN. He is also survived by their daughter Deborah Moberly (Michael), grandson Jonathon Moberly (Jennifer Fruend), great grand-daughters Adeline and Eloisa, brother-in-law Jack Beverstein, nephews John Beverstein (Marianne), Rick Rowley, Marc Rowley and Tom Kunkle, niece Irene Berens (Bob), great nephews Ryan Berens (Carmen) and Zack Kunkle (Nichole); great nieces Kirsten Kunkle (Jason Dick), Jessica Beverstein, Kimberly Goldstein (Andrew), and Lauren Berens Hughes (Todd).
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Methodist Church, 1200 S. Lindbergh Blvd; St. Louis, MO 63131. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations made in John Clifford's memory to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
