Love Emblem

Elise Sears Moloney
age 90, Moloney Family Matriarch, philanthropist Elise Moloney (wife of the late James C . Moloney), was called to God's arms on Monday, October 12, 2015. She was born Georgette Elise Sears on February 22, 1925. She married the love of her life, attorney James C. Moloney on November 20, 1948 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in University City. Jim and Elise then had seven children between 1950 and 1970; From the eldest, James C. (and Jean Palmer) Moloney, Jr., G. Elise (Lesie) Moloney, Robert (and Sally) Moloney, Kevin Moloney, Daniel (and Rhonda) Moloney, Michael (and Ann) Moloney and Chris (and Erin) Moloney.
Elise dedicated her time to raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren, but also found time to be an active real estate agent in her 50s and 60s. In addition to having a large family, Elise and Jim were active in numerous charities and educational organizations. They had a passion for helping those in need both in St. Louis and via Catholic ministries abroad. They raised and educated all seven children at the Church of the Immacolata. Elise was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre and had done a pilgrimage with the group. In recent years, Elise continued to stay active in a number of charities, including serving on the board of the E. Walter Haufstette Charitable Foundation.
In addition to their family, Elise and Jim notably took great care of friends, including family friend Helen Hastedt who lived under the loving care of Elise at her home for 10 years.
Elise was blessed with over 25 grandchildren and most recently with a growing host of great-grandchildren. For many years, Elise lived next door to Mike and Ann Moloney and their 9 children in Pevely, Missouri, and for the past year she lived with Dan and Rhonda Moloney and their family in Fenton, MO. She treasured each moment with family. She actively worked to bring family together and promoted 20 years of destination-based full family reunions all across the U.S. Nothing made Elise more proud and overjoyed than time spent with her family.
Elise was extremely kind, wise and fun-loving. She played a larger than life role as the matriarch of such a large family. Elise could achieve an amazing amount on her own, but she was also highly skilled at supporting and giving direction to ensuring fairness and encouraging success and achievement.
She was loved dearly by hundreds of people. Her immense impact on those around her will carry on for many generations. Her love and joy will be missed by all those who loved her. Her presence will remain in all that she has taught us, and from all the love she has shared with the world. We will miss her dearly.
