Brenda Joyce La Fleur (nee Willis), on Friday, September 4th, 2015 departed this life to be with the Lord. She has left to cherish her memories, the love of her life, best friend and devoted husband John La Fleur, united in holy matrimony in 1993 ; her beloved four "little eggs" : Johnny Hardrick, Dora Williams, Lora Card and Melody Anderson (Gerry); her two step children: Reginald and Sharon McGlorn; her grandchildren: Larry George, Elizabeth Card, Sabrina Card and Sholonda Card; great grandchildren : Mariyah George, Cameron Card-Quinn and Tyler Coleman; her nieces, nephews, friends and church family. She was preceded in death by both of her parents Ruben and Maime Willis and her only brother James M. Willis-Bey. She is missed by all who knew her.
Brenda received her Degree in Security Science from Watterson College in 1989, and worked as a Security Guard at Vashon High School and later as a Guard Attendant at the St. Louis Art Museum until she retired in 2007.
Brenda became a member of the St. Louis Bibleway Church in 1974 and faithfully served in many different areas of the Ministry. She was ordained as a Deaconess in 2003. She was a excellent cook, well known for her signature dishes: Collard Greens, Chicken and Rice and Spaghetti, made beautiful floral arrangements and displays, enjoyed playing the Violin and had a great sense of humor. She was a strict but loving mother, who instilled within her children the values of respect and discipline. She had an enormous heart and was loving to all who crossed her path. Brenda had an unconquerable strength that endured until the mission was complete. Brenda possessed a sweet and humble spirit, a quiet and gentle smile and was a wonderful friend. She devoted her life to being of service to God, and it is to this cause she gave her time, talent and unending faithful service.
Services: a visitation will be held in the Great Hall of Ambruster Chapel :6633 Clayton Road (Clayton) on Tuesday, September 14, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2015 at The Saint Louis Bibleway Church : 6719 Page Avenue, Pagedale, Missouri 63133 from 9:45 a.m. until 11 a.m., with a Funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Interment Valhalla cemetery.
